At Traction Rec, our purpose is clear: amplifying community with great technology and great people.
After spotlighting our Product team, we’re taking you behind the scenes to meet the people who bring that vision to life through code, our Development team. This is a group of builders, collaborators, and problem-solvers who turn ideas into real-world solutions that help communities run, grow, and thrive.
While much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact shows up in recreation centers, nonprofit programs, and community organizations every day. Here’s a closer look at some of the people and their stories behind our Development team.

Kyle has been with Traction Rec for nearly three years and currently works as a DevOps Specialist. He started his career as an automation QA intern and found his way into DevOps, a role that blends problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration.
His work sits at the intersection of teams, helping ensure that what developers build gets into the hands of customers quickly and reliably. On any given day, he partners with Product, Development, Customer Success, and Support, often stepping in to remove blockers and keep things moving forward.
For Kyle, the role is about enabling others to do their best work.
“I truly enjoy unblocking people by identifying ways to creatively move things forward or fix things. I see DevOps as the ‘eye in the sky’ or the glue that helps bring things together.”

Paddy’s journey with Traction Rec reflects both personal growth and the opportunities that come with it.
Originally from Ireland, he moved to Vancouver in search of new experiences and joined the team as a Junior Developer. Through a strong culture of feedback and continuous learning, he quickly progressed to an Intermediate Developer role and, not long after, stepped into a Team Lead position.
Now leading a pod of developers, Paddy focuses on both delivery and development, supporting his team’s growth while helping shape new features and expand into new markets.
“I see this role as being a multiplier for my team. My job is to bring them up, amplify their successes, and allow them to advance and grow their skills as well.”

Liana joined the team two years ago as a Junior Developer and has since grown into an Intermediate Developer role, taking on more ownership and leading technical work across key areas of the platform.
Much of her work focuses on integrated payments and financial systems, but what motivates her most is seeing how those features impact real people. Whether it is improving the speed of check-ins at a YMCA or making processes more seamless for families, she values knowing her work makes a difference.
She also credits the team around her for supporting her growth, especially through mentorship and collaboration.
“My experience at Traction Rec has been so wonderful and supportive. I do see myself growing my career potential while also helping the real people in our clients’ communities.”

Olya’s path into her current Team Lead role is rooted in her background in Quality Assurance. After two years focused on QA, she stepped into a leadership position where she now leads work on the company’s Agentic AI offering.
Having been involved in the project since its early stages, Olya brings both deep product knowledge and a strong focus on building with intention. Her perspective ensures the team not only thinks about what they are building, but why it matters.
For her, the standout part of the experience is the people she works with every day.
“Being in a team lead role, it’s really about how you collaborate with others. At Traction Rec, our people are our advantage. I like to say that even the hard things are easy with this team.”
Across the Development team, a few things stand out. There is a strong sense of ownership, a commitment to continuous growth, and a genuine investment in one another’s success.
They’re not just building software. They’re building systems that help organizations better serve their communities, and creating an environment where people can grow their careers while doing meaningful work.
As Traction Rec continues to grow, so will the opportunities for this team to shape what comes next through new technologies, new challenges, and new ways to amplify community.
